Nicki Minaj has been accused of minimizing domestic violence after she alleged Megan Thee Stallion was looking for similar sympathy in the Tory Lanez shooting that Rihanna got following her incident with Chris Brown.
The comments arrived during a Twitter Spaces the Queens rapper joined with Joe Budden on Wednesday morning (January 31).

“But here’s the thing — Rihanna is just known for being herself,” she said. “You get what you see, you see what you get type of vibe. I’m not talking about anything anyone spoke to me about, I’m saying that’s what we know Rih as. Rihanna never would milk something like this. You could tell she couldn’t wait to get that part of her life — You could tell she couldn’t wait to just try to move on with her life. You understand?”
She continued: “And then people even bashed her for not dragging it out, not milking it, and she was just like, ‘Yo, I was mad young. I just wanna move on with my life now, yo.’ You know why? Because Rihanna knows that she was a superstar with or without controversy. She’s beautiful with or without controversy. She’s loved with or without controversy. I’m sorry — sympathy.”
People were less than pleased about the comparisons to Rihanna, as they felt it greatly minimized what both women went through in their respective situations.
“For her to say, ‘Megan wanted a Rihanna moment,’ is so gross and insane. Domestic violence is NOT a ‘moment.’ This woman needs to STOP,” read one comment.
“A Rihanna moment, people LEAKED her DV photos, said she gave that crackhead a STD thats why he beat her etc etc ?!?? When she did her interview they still called her a liar ??? Fuck are you talking about ??????” another said.

A third person wrote: “Nicki is a sick woman and i don’t understand how you can listen to her and not be completely turned off. ”
Another said: “It took Rihanna 9 months to speak about her assault. People dragged her not speaking sooner and then accused her of the doing the interview to promote her new album. She was mocked, berated and accused of lying on him. Calling a woman’s DV ‘a moment’ is dangerous and disgusting.”
“This woman is so fucking trifling and doesn’t give a fuck about real victims, how tf was megan looking for a “Rihanna” moment?? so you mfs think she planned on getting shot by a grown ass man so she could use the situation for sympathy??? HUH????” someone else added.

The full conversation with Joe Budden has overall received criticism, with fans once again accusing Nicki Minaj of using drugs and being incoherent.
Nicki has denied the drug use, however, and clarified that she has “never done coke in [her] life.”
“Whenever you see the words ‘coke rant’ you know they mad,” she wrote. “If y’all hear how loud I’m laughing [laughing emojis]. I’ve never done coke in my life. But if I did, I’d do it proudly.”
