The latest edition of HipHopDX’s New Music Friday coverage is somewhat of a sound clash extravaganza. Leading the way, days after what would’ve been his 26th birthday, is the estate of late rapper Lil Peep with the reissued posthumous release of his early fan-favorite hit “Flannel.”
Trending Warner Records signee NLE Choppa also reflects on his 20th birthday with the release of his “Ice Spice (Munch)” single, while recently disbanded hyper-collective BROCKHAMPTON joins forces once again for their explicit banger “Big P*ssy.

Lil Peep – “Flannel”
Gustav Elijah Åhr, lovingly known by his loyal listeners as both Gus and his stage name, Lil Peep, unfortunately passed away nearly five years ago on November 15. However, his popularity has stood the test of time as the “Beamer Boy” rapper’s current Spotify monthly listeners tally swells beyond 13 million users.
The estate of Lil Peep has elected to celebrate Peep’s 26th birthday with the release of his breakout 2015 track “Flannel,” which once again highlights his genre-bending affinity for crafting hybrid emo-pop rap anthems.
NLE Choppa — “Ice Spice (MUNCH)”
Even though Bronx-bred rapper “Ice Spice” is from the East Coast, “Too Hot” lyricist NLE Choppa is bringing an intense Southern flare to his new radio-ready slap.
Connecting with his fellow Memphis native, platinum producer Tay Keith, Choppa manifests his own “Munch” flows on his new rap-heavy masterwork.
