The case, in which YoungBoy (real name Kentrell Gaulden) is charged with possession of firearms by a convicted felon, dates back to September 2020, when he was arrested in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana along with 15 other people.
Video of the scene shows police detaining YoungBoy during what appeared to be a video shoot. The 20-year-old artist allegedly had a gun on set and was ultimately taken into custody after a search.

According to court records seen by HipHopDX, YoungBoy was accused of having a Glock .45 caliber pistol and a Masterpiece Arms 9 mm firearm with an attached Magpul “RVG Vertical Grip.”
In addition to the guilty plea, Findling is reportedly also attempting to get the case moved to Utah, where the rapper currently resides (and where he is facing further legal trouble).

For the weapons case, YoungBoy faces up to 10 years in prison. No sentencing date has been set.
YoungBoy has had fan support throughout his legal battles — sometimes in extreme ways.
During a hearing last month, fans turned out in full force for their favorite rapper during an online court hearing.
YB appeared before a Utah judge via a WebEx video conference on July 22. Ultimately, nothing happened at the hearing as his lawyer was late, forcing the judge to postpone the arraignment to August 19. His lawyer later arrived and told the judge he was leaving a doctor’s appointment, but the proceedings had already been moved.

Several YB fans then made an appearance as well, shouting “Free YB,” but the rapper had already left court.
“Mr. Gaulden’s case has already been called,” Judge Spencer Walsh told them. “He’s done with court today for those of you interested. Everyone keep yourselves muted.”
