NBA YoungBoy has blessed fans with yet more new music while settling a beef with an old enemy.
Extending his prolific streak in 2022, the Baton Rouge rap star dropped a new project called Lost Files by surprise on Friday (December 23). As the title suggests, the 21-song set includes a mix of new, unheard tracks and previously released material.

While YoungBoy has been a willing collaborator this year, dropping joint projects with DaBaby and Quando Rondo while appearing on songs with 2 Chainz, Quavo and TakeOff, Lil Nas X and others, the 23-year-old rides solo dolo on this sprawling, hour-long compilation.
Lost Files marks YoungBoy’s eight full-length release of 2022 and the follow-up to October’s Ma’ I Got a Family. The house arrest-bound rapper was at one point flirting with the idea of dropping 10 mixtapes this year, before admitting last month he “ran out of rhymes.”

The Never Broke Again boss appears to have overcome his writer’s block, though, and is looking to pick up where he left off in the new year. Earlier this month, he teased the release of his fifth studio album — tentatively titled I Rest My Case — in January.

The mixtape arrived shortly after NBA YoungBoy appeared to have buried the hatchet with fellow Baton Rouge native Fredo Bang.
YoungBoy’s mother, Sherhonda Gaulden, shared a flyer on her Instagram Stories on Thursday (December 22) promoting a Christmas toy drive hosted by her son’s Never Broke Again label along with Fredo Bang and TG Kommas.
The “Unity in the Community” event is set to take place in the rappers’ Louisiana hometown on Saturday (December 24), and promises free bikes, toys, blankets, coats, tennis shoes and more for local children and residents.
NBA YoungBoy and Fredo Bang’s feud dates back to at least 2020, when the former threatened the latter on Instagram after he joked about “Me & My Son Dropping Together,” in reference to them both releasing new music on the same day.
YoungBoy didn’t take kindly to Fredo calling him his “son” and fired back on Instagram by writing: “Ima catch you & bang yo scary ass.” He also called Fredo a “pure bitch” and bragged about being able to sleep with his mother while declaring: “I ain’t even in competition with you.”

Then, in September, Fredo was involved in a scuffle with an NBA YoungBoy fan after a show in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Footage of the altercation showed the rapper leaving the venue when he and his crew began pounding on the man. Fredo appeared to get at least one punch in as the man struggled to break free.
The man is alleged to have shouted “NBA,” “BBG” and “4KT” during Bang’s performance. 4KT is a reference to YoungBoy’s 4K Trey gang, while BBG is short for Bottom Boy Gorilla Gang.
During an appearance on Akademiks’ Off the Record podcast earlier this year, however, Fredo Bang downplayed the seriousness of his and NBA YoungBoy’s beef, but confirmed they “don’t fuck with each other.”

“I personally don’t got a problem with him,” he said. “It’s more of… people don’t fuck with people, and they’re in the main people ear type of shit. And muthafuckas don’t know how to be grown, to be a man and talk for themself. I don’t have a problem with him, we just don’t fuck with each other.”
