Proof’s son NASAAN has detailed his involvement in Big Sean‘s forthcoming album, revealing their friendship has grown to the point of him crashing at the rap star’s house.
Chatting with AllHipHop at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday (June 30), the Atlanta-based rapper spoke about helping Sean Don put together his next project.

“It’s crazy because Sean is somebody, bro, I grew up just idolizing, you know what I’m saying? I copied his flows, I mirrored his style so much to now we’re friends,” he said. “I’ve been sleeping at this house since I’ve been out here [in L.A.] just like [he’s] my dog.
“So it’s just crazy. Those full-circle moments and almost manifesting it. The universe got a weird way of working. It’s just crazy. Like, dang. The person I was a fan of is now a fan of me.”

NASAAN also shed light on Sean’s new album and his role in its creation, saying: “I play big part in helping just curate and just giving ideas and stuff. Literally, after I leave here I’m probably going to go back to his house and we working on his album.
“Between us, I’m on it. But yeah, that should be coming out late summer. I’m excited. He’s somebody who, like I said, he sees the superstar in me. He kind of just wants to nurture that.”
Details about Big Sean’s new album are scant, but he did reveal that it was “coming soon” during his Tiny Desk Concert for NPR in March.
During that show, he also premiered an unreleased song called “Get Up,” which samples Jodeci‘s “Get On Up” and is dedicated to his son Noah who turned one last November.

The former G.O.O.D. Music rapper has also dropped the lead single from his next project, “Precision,” which samples Three 6 Mafia‘s “Poppin’ My Collar.”
As for NASAAN, the up-and-coming MC recently released his debut project Error 404, which boasts collaborations with fellow Detroit natives Royce Da 5’9″, BabyTron and Icewear Vezzo.
In addition to Big Sean, NASAAN counts his late father’s close friend Eminem as a mentor and has hinted that they might have some new material on the way.
“We got some shit, we got some stuff,” he said during an interview with Off the Porch last month. “He sent me some stuff. I don’t want to speak on it too much — I be getting in trouble when I talk about they stuff. I ain’t gonna speak on it.”

Proof’s son also reflected on growing up around Slim Shady, saying: “I feel like I’ve known the n-gga forever. I think I started growing an appreciation for him as I got older ’cause it’s like — I never was a super fan of their music.
“Like I said, I grew up in Atlanta, so I think when I started building taste, my palate was a little bit different. So when I got like 14, 15, I kind of got into they stuff, and I was like, ‘Oooh, this n-gga really rap.’”
