Mustard has clearly been enjoying the independent life — both as an artist and as a man — and he couldn’t wait to share the news with his fans.
Taking to his Instagram page on Friday (November 17), the producer posted a series of photos where he compared himself to none other than Dr. Dre.

“The third picture describes how i feel as a newly independent artist. It’s pretty crazy because I guess i feel how dre felt when he was shopping the chronic,” he wrote.
Mustard’s 10 Summers Records imprint has been distributed by Interscope Records since signing Ella Mai in 2016. As of this writing, 10 Summers’ logo as seen on its website is still a nod to Interscope’s famous logo.

Mustard’s post did not specify whether his independent status referred to his solo releases, his imprint as a whole, or both. HipHopDX has reached out to Interscope for clarification.

Many in the comments noted that Mustard was pictured with a new woman, while also noting that she “looks straight like his ex-wife def gotta type lmao.”
As of this writing, Mustard hasn’t come forward to give any information about the new lady in his life, though it’s hoped that things work out better with her than with Chanel Thierry, whom the producer is currently suing for $10,000 after she allegedly went the extra mile digging through his financial records.

According to RadarOnline, Mustard (real name Dijon McFarlane) has requested through the courts that his former partner stop snooping around through a series of “harassing” subpoenas and pay him $10,000 for her actions.
The producer alleged that Chanel went behind his back to file subpoenas with five different third parties looking for financial information dating back to 2016 — which was before their marriage and irrelevant to their divorce proceedings.
Mustard believes the financial issues should already be resolved in their divorce due to the prenuptial agreement that was signed at the time of their wedding in 2020.
The 10 Summers Records boss — who shares three children with Chanel — filed for divorce in 2022.

Finances became a point of contention in the divorce proceedings when Chanel hired a private investigator who alleged that Mustard pulled in about $623,000 per month and believed he could be paying higher than the $82,000 monthly stipend she requested in court.
Mustard’s legal team pushed back against Chanel’s figures and claimed that the monthly income is actually much lower, around $245,000. They recommended a child support payment of $23,000 per month which would be “sufficient to meet the needs of the children at the lifestyle to which they are accustomed.”

A judge ruled that the parents would share joint custody of the children, and that Mustard would fork over $24,500 in monthly child support payments.
