Mos Def (aka Yasiin Bey) has found himself in a bit of financial turmoil now that one of his children’s mother is demanding the money he’ll be getting from his upcoming tour with Erykah Badu.
Ahead of the upcoming Unfollow Me tour, visual artist Karima Sorel has filed a judgment demand in the Manhattan Supreme Court, according to The New York Post. The outlet claims that Sorel, who is the mother of one of Bey’s six children, won $88,602.63 in a back child support claim from the rapper, and her attorney claims that she will do whatever is necessary to get it satisfied.

“This matter arises out of protracted child support proceedings in Family Court between Karima Sorel . . . and the child’s father,” read the papers filed on Thursday (June 1). The papers also confirm that Sorel doesn’t have Bey’s current address, and she’s also suing Live Nation, Ticketmaster, Outback Presents LLC and BaduWorld Inc. to get the money judgment enforced.
This isn’t the first time that Bey and Sorel have had issues. Back in March 2020, court documents showed that Bey was ordered to pay Sorel’s attorney fees after it was discovered that Bey consistently refused to pay child support to her.
Back in April, Erykah Badu and Yasiin Bey announced that they were embarking on a 25-city tour of the United States.
The tour, which kicks off on June 11, is called the Unfollow Me tour and will commence at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX. It will conclude on July 23 at the American Airlines Center in San Antonio, TX.
Pre-sales began on April 20 through Ticketmaster, and limited tickets are still available.
As for Erykah Badu, recently, Madlib teased an upcoming project with the “Tyrone” R&B songstress.
The legendary producer appeared on Sway in the Morning on March 27 alongside Talib Kweli to promote their new album Liberation 2. During the conversation, Madlib said he’s putting the finishing touches on the long-lost Maclib project and has recently begun work on a full-length effort with Ms. Badu.
