Monica was recently chased down by a fan for a photo in the airport – only for the fan to learn that the iconic singer was not, in fact, Sexyy Red.
The hilarious mix-up went down on Wednesday morning (May 15), and Monica took to her Instagram Story to share the story shortly afterward.

“Ok… This older lady literally chased me down in the airport to say Good Morning Miss Sexy Red May I pls have a Picture!” the singer wrote with a selfie showing she’s currently rocking red hair – though it’s a vastly different shade than Sexyy’s.
She continued: “I hated to disappoint her but I said ‘Mmm I love her, but I’m not Sexy Red’ LMAOOOO now I can’t get the song out of my head. She was so disappointed LOL”

Sexyy Red also had a moment with a fan in an airport recently, but in this instance, she converted an older man who was previously unfamiliar with her work.
In a carousel post to Instagram on Monday (May 6), the “Get It Sexyy” rapper shared a few selfies with her flight-mate – followed by a note he quickly jotted to her via the Notes app on his iPhone.

“Just listened to a bunch of your songs,” he wrote. “Great stuff! My fav is looking for the hoes. It’s good for me to step out of my 80’s rock era and listen to some new stuff!”
She also got a note from the flight attendants thanking her for choosing Delta, though this one was handwritten.
Sexyy Red has been steadily expanding her horizons, as earlier this month, the St. Louis native popped out as a surprise guest at a Zach Bryan concert.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) on May 4, Sexyy thanked the country music superstar for bringing her out during his concert at St. Louis’ Enterprise Center the previous night. Bryan billed the town as “HOME OF @sexyyred” in a social media post with the rapper.
In true Sexyy Red fashion, the video she posted of her cameo featured her twerking for the crowd. She came out during the encore, Bryan’s 2020 track “Revival.”
