Metro Boomin has addressed the chatter surrounding Drake and Future‘s relationship, shutting down at least one theory behind the pair’s rumored beef.

After a social media account on X (formerly Twitter) highlighted a woman that the “Jumpman” collaborators were both allegedly sleeping with and who allegedly served as inspiration for the song “Magic Don Juan (Princess Diana),” Metro denied the claims.

Criticizing the speculation, the multi-platinum producer wrote: “Yall n-ggas stop making stuff up for engagement and enjoy the music.”

It’s unclear if Metro was denying that Drake and Future are beefing or that their apparent falling out is over a woman.

Following the release of Future and Metro Boomin’s joint album We Don’t Trust You, it has been speculated that the Freebandz boss is no longer on good terms with the OVO Sound hitmaker.

The project features a scathing verse from Kendrick Lamar aimed at Drake and J. Cole, as well as numerous lyrics from Future himself that appear to be aimed at his former collaborator.

On the title track, Hendrix raps: “You a n-gga No. 1 fan, dawg/ Sneak dissin’, I don’t understand, dawg/ Pillow talkin’, actin’ like a fed, dawg/ I don’t need another fake friend, dawg/ Can’t be ’bout a ho, ’cause we sharin’, dawg/ In yo feelings, n-gga, why you playin’, dawg?”

The pair have a long history together which includes the 2015 joint mixtape What a Time To Be Alive, a string of hit singles like “Life Is Good,” “Wait For U” and “Where Ya At,” and a co-headlining tour.

Things have also been tense between Drake and Metro Boomin after the producer criticized the success of Her Loss, Drizzy’s collab project with 21 Savage, despite working on the project.

After it was pointed out to Metro that his album Heroes & Villains had accumulated more streams than any rap album since 2018, he took the opportunity to throw shade at the Toronto rap star.

He wrote on X: “Yet Her Loss keeps winning rap album of the year over H&V. Proof that award shows are just politics and not for me. Idc about awards honestly, the true award and REWARD is knowing that the music I spend so much time on brings joy to people’s everyday lives.”

Drake appeared to fire back by unfollowing Metro on Instagram and calling out “tweet and deleters” during a Stake livestream.

Despite the back-and-forth, the Boominati boss later claimed that the apparent tension between him and Drizzy is “not deep at all.”
