Meechy Darko of the Flatbush Zombies has dropped a brand new “Get Lit or Die Tryin'” remix, and he’s given a nod to some classic 50 Cent cover art in the process.
The remix, which was produced by Girl Talk, hit SoundCloud and YouTube on Friday (June 2), with the “Kill Us All” rapper promising that this will be the first of many songs to tie die-hard fans over.

“GLODT REMIX TiNGS W/@GirlTalk_verified,” he wrote on Instagram announcing the track. “We on YouTube & SoundCloud wit this 1. Imma be releasing some Random shit on there 4 yall so keep them eyes wide & ALLDAT.”
Rap fans will also note that the artwork for the remix is reminiscent of the classic artwork from 50 Cent’s breakthrough album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

Flatbush Zombies fans will recall that the original “Get Lit or Die Tryin'” dropped in July 2022, and was a single off of the New York rapper’s first-ever solo album, Gothic Luxury, which hit the streets in August via Loma Vista Recordings. The single followed “Kill Us All (K.U.A.).”
The black and white video for “Get Lit Or Die Tryin” — directed by the Flatbush Zombies rapper and Ancillary Fund — followed Meechy as he meanders through his old neighborhood and conducts some business, dabbling in drugs, guns and women along the way.
Gothic Luxury was executive produced by Dot da Genius and mixed by Neal Pogue.

Speaking about the album, Meechy said in a press release: “I had no choice but to make this the most personal thing I’ve ever done because fortunately or unfortunately, I’m in an extremely soul-stirring part of my life right now.”
He continued: “Who I was yesterday may not be who I am tomorrow. I’m not who I was last week. There’s no telling who I’ll be next year or the year after, so it’s very important to capture this while I can still feel.”
As for the Flatbush Zombies themselves, they haven’t dropped a proper album since 2018’s Vacation in Hell, but Meechy Darko claimed that it’s up to his bandmates to decide when a new album will finally hit the streets — even though they’ve already got 40 unreleased tracks, some of which will appear on their forthcoming James Blake-assisted album.
“[Zombie Juice] and Erick are busy man, so it’s on them, they’re the producers,” Darko said to HipHopDX back in November 2022. “All I can do is rap when they send me a beat, but I’m not gonna pressure. Whenever they ready … there’s a lot of songs to be honest. I wanna say, damn, I don’t wanna say.”

He continued: “Let’s just say altogether between shit we did with RZA, the shit we did with James Blake, the shit we did with ourselves, 40 songs, maybe? If you see me, I don’t know. It’s 40, might be four next time. I don’t know.”
