Maxo Kream has received condolences from some of his rap peers following the death of his father.

The Houston rapper announced his dad’s passing on Instagram on Sunday (February 25), paying tribute to the man he called his “idol.”

Maxo revealed his father had dealt with health problems in a touching message which was accompanied by videos and photos of his dad, including one of him standing next to Young Thug.

“My Idol the Legend the Man that made me who I am today frfr,” he wrote. “I’m thankful for all the Game yu gave me and showed me.

“Yu was a real Money gettin Nicca that Ran it up never asked for a hand out and no matter what always put yur family first and I Love yu for that. Yu been fighting wit health problems for years and neva showed signs of giving up all the way to the end.”

He continued: “But this shit ain’t gone never end jus a new beginning Big Papa Maxo Tell Mmdau I love Him and yal keep watching over us … Till we meet again RIP Emekwanem Biosah Sr #TillWeMeetAgain.”

Many rappers and producers took to the comments section to show love to Maxo Kream following his loss.

Killer Mike wrote: “Deepest Condolences Brother,” while fellow Texan Bun B said: “My deepest condolences to you and the family lil bro.”

Kenny Beats called Maxo’s father a “true legend,” with IDK adding: “Damn brother, RIP my bro.”

Guapdad 4000 touched on Maxo’s close relationship with his father, commenting: “Damn RIP to the OG. Sorry for your loss, I know how close yall are and pray yall forever remain that close in spirit.”

Maxo Kream was named after his dad, Emekwanem Ogugua Biosah Sr., who emigrated to the U.S. from Nigeria and started hustling in the streets when Maxo was a kid.

The rapper’s 2019 album Brandon Banks was named after the alias his dad used at the time, with the cover art stitching together Maxo and his father’s faces. Biosah Sr. also appeared on multiple skits on that album.

Maxo’s father dealt with a string of legal issues during his life, including being sent to prison on fraud charges when his son was around 11 years old.
