Mac Miller’s final album was released five years ago, and a new catalog of merchandise has now been released to honor the anniversary of the Grammy-nominated record.
Thursday (August 3) marked five years since the release of Swimming, soon after which Mac tragically passed away at the age of 27. Only a few days after the tracklist went live, the rapper and producer performed his new songs on what many argue is one of the most memorable Tiny Desk concerts hosted by NPR.

That three-song set has finally been released on vinyl for the first time, and the album from which it was derived has been re-released as a two-disc vinyl box set. The fifth anniversary package of Mac Miller’s last album comes with pink-and-blue marble LPs in clear printed sleeves, among other things.
Additionally, the Pittsburg native’s estate has partnered with Vans to put out a limited-edition shoe, the earnings from which will partially go to the Mac Miller Fund. The newly released vinyl packages and Vans merchandise are all available on Mac Miller’s website.
On Thursday night, Swimming will be played in its entirety in Pittsburg and Los Angeles in Dolby Atmos-enabled theaters with never-before-seen visuals — you can RSVP for the screenings here.
Another of Mac Miller’s albums recently celebrated a landmark anniversary. In June, Watching Movies with the Sound Off turned 10 years old, following which his estate officially released a fan-favorite outtake from the album’s recording sessions.

The late star’s sophomore record opens with “The Star Room,” but an alternate interpretation of the track had been making the rounds online in recent years, with many even calling it better than the final cut. The OG Version of the song was finally granted a legitimate release in the public domain as part of the 10th-anniversary re-release of Watching Movies with the Sound Off.
“The video depicts the journey of an open-minded character as they navigate the world, discovering and evolving along the way,” the video’s director Danae Gosset said in a press release. “I had the privilege of collaborating with the incredibly talented Sam Mason [director of Miller’s ‘Colors and Shapes’ video], who designed the characters for the video.”
A month before that, Swimming was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), commemorating two million units sold in the U.S. Two years prior, in February 2021, the project was certified platinum for the first time, making it Mac’s first body of work to reach that status.

Additionally, “Self Care” from the same album has also been certified 5x platinum. This is another milestone for the Most Dope MC, whose highest-certified song until recently was the 4x-platinum Miguel collaboration, “Weekend,” from 2015’s GO:OD AM.
