Ludacris has said that his recent run of freestyles is his way of proving to the world that “still got it” when it comes to the rhymes, despite his lack of output.
The Fast X star appeared on the Tamron Hall Show, where he delved into the inspiration behind the series of freestyles that he’s been posting on Instagram.

“When I was young, I feel like some of my favorite rappers, once they get to a certain point, it’s almost like you wish that they were still kind of hungry and you feel like they don’t have it necessarily like they used to,” Luda said.
“I never wanted to be that. So it’s extremely important for me to prove to people that even though I’m doing all this other stuff, make no mistake, I still got it and I’m still as hungry.”

Luda also gave an update on new music, revealing that he’s planning to drop his long-awaited 10th studio album in 2024 — with the first batch of songs arriving later this year.
“We’re definitely gonna get some music before the end of this year,” he added. “I would say an album, probably next year. They keep shooting more movies. What am I supposed to do?”
Ludacris is currently in promo mode with Fast X set to hit theaters across the country on Friday (May 19). An 11th installment was supposed to close out the series, but Vin Diesel recently hinted that there might be a 12th Fast movie in the works as part of a three-part finale.
The Disturbing Tha Peace founder has racked up plenty more acting credits outside of the Fast & Furious universe over the last few years, starring in movies like Show Dogs, John Henry and End of the Road.
He also launched the animated kids musical comedy series Karma’s World on Netflix in 2021, which was inspired by and created for his eldest daughter, Karma Bridges.
Luda fans have had to remain patient for new music, though, with the rapper’s last album, Ludaversal, arriving in 2015. The project was a testament to Luda’s enduring popularity as it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with over 70,000 first-week sales.
