50 Cent has admitted that he borrowed heavily from Nelly when writing Lloyd Banks‘ hit record “On Fire.”
Sitting down for an interview on Hot 97, the G-Unit general confessed to imitating Nelly’s 2002 smash “Hot In Herre” when creating “On Fire” and even broke down how he essentially reimagined the song.

“I would be able to look at someone else’s record and make my version of the record when the right production came around, and it would be a hit again,” he said.
Fif then began rapping the hook to “Hot in Herre” before reciting the chorus from “On Fire,” pointing out the similarities between both songs.
“It’s the same record,” he acknowledged. “It’s just new melodies, new production and let Banks do it.”
“On Fire” is far from the only record outside of his own catalog that 50 Cent helped write. He recently revealed that he and JAY-Z penned Diddy‘s verse on the “I Get Money” remix.
The Power mogul reflected on the heavyweight 2007 collaboration while appearing on The Breakfast Club last month, where he was quizzed about lyrics from Puffy’s verse that have now taken on a new meaning following his legal drama.

“They said you wrote two verses for Diddy. One was [G. Dep’s] ‘Let’s Get It’ and the other one was on the ‘I Get Money’ remix. They said you wrote it and it’s him confessing to the crimes! Did you see the meme?” Charlmagne Tha God asked.
The radio personality then played a portion of Diddy’s verse where he raps: “Bo knows but Diddy did it / Cars, jewelry and big homes, yeah, Diddy did it / Shootouts, coastal beefs, yeah, Diddy did it / But my lawyer’s so good that Diddy got acquitted.”
Fif quickly interjected: “Jay helped me with that,” before he and the hosts began cracking up.
“Jay did that part right there where he said, ‘Shootouts, coastal beefs.’ I wasn’t around for that, that was like East Coast-West Coast [laughs]. And then Keefe D comes out and says…,” he added before trailing off, referencing the former gangmember’s claim that Diddy offered him money to kill 2Pac.

Despite their long-running rivarly, 50 went on to praise Jigga’s writing skills, saying: “Now, artists freestyle and freestyle and freestyle, but Jay remembers the idea in his head so he can just say it without writing it down. Because it came out already ready, I said, ‘Put it in there!’”
