Ludacris has sparked concern for his health after filming himself drinking water directly from a glacier in Alaska.

In a video posted to Instagram on Monday (August 26), the rapper and actor can be seen stood on the edge of an ice cap and filling up his flask with the ice-cold water.

“I couldn’t come here and just have a show,” Luda says in the clip. “You know I got a bucket list — or as I like to call it the fuck it list. I’ve never tasted fresh glacial water ever in my life, and this is a first. Here we go!”

The “Act a Fool” hitmaker then takes a sip of the water and lets out a loud “oh my God!” while running away in amazement.

He added in his Instagram caption: “Water So Good It Tastes Like GOD Made It. Well, Because He Did.”

The reaction to Ludacris drinking the water was not positive and left many fans worried, including Ice Cube‘s son O’Shea Jackson Jr.

Jackson Jr. commented on X (formerly Twitter): “……how long ago did he shoot this and have we been monitoring him?”

He also wrote: “I see a lot of people name calling but still water is still water. Boil that shit and make it cold again” while sharing a video warning people about the risks of drinking glacial water.

In the clip, a man claims he was “literally sick for two weeks” after drinking water from a 600,000-year-old glacier, despite it being “the best water I think I’ve ever had.”

Ludacris later replied to the criticism in a video posted on X and didn’t exhibit any signs of ill health.

“Yo, for everybody asking me how that glacial water really tasted, and when I tell y’all I’m a water snob, it was the best tasting water I’ve ever had in my life,” he said.

“As I drank it, I felt like every cell in my human body was being hydrated and rejuvenated at the same damn time […] I feel like Superman. Love to all the fans. It’s different ways of life. I’m just trying to take y’all places and show y’all things. Come on now.”

Glacial water can be potentially dangerous to drink as it can contain disease, pathogens and bacteria that are harmful to the human body.

Some diseases have been frozen in glaciers for hundreds of years and still exist in the water after it has melted. Animals called Tardigrades, which are less than a millimeter in size, can also be found in the water.

Dangerous metals such as mercury, zinc and cadmium have also been detected in glacial water.
