Lizzo has hit back at conservative commentator Candace Owens who called the “Glad as Hell” singer “problematic”.
Addressing Owens on Instagram, Lizzo shared a video which sees her lip-syncing to Reels sound that says: “Hey everyone, it’s come to my attention that some of you think I have thick skin. I don’t. I never have. I never will. Everything you say deeply, deeply hurts me, affects me, keeps me up at night; you have to be nice to me. That’s the deal moving forward, okay?”

The embattled singer took a more direct approach with the post’s caption, which reads: “I literally just be minding my business please keep my name out ya mouf unless it’s something positive or real.. pls n thank u.”

Owens went on a rant against Lizzo when she appeared on a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast.
“I don’t like the game that people play where they do something that is so obviously outrageous, like, you know, Lizzo in a thong shaking your ass cheeks,” she began. “You know what that was.”

She continued: “This is a. Disgusting, b. Perverted, and people take their kids to the games. Is there no space that’s safe? […] And then she’s like, ‘if you don’t like it, that’s your problem.’ Like no, you are being problematic. And now you’re playing the game where you do something outrageous, and then, when we outrage, you pretend that we’re the crazy ones. I’m not dealing with that. Stop gaslighting me, okay?”
Gaslighting is a term which means giving out false information that deliberately makes a victim question the reality around them meaning Owens misused the word.

Owens’ comments also appeared to relate to an incident from 2019 when Lizzo appeared at a basketball game in a thong.
When the Laker cheerleaders performed a routine to her hit “Juice,” the jumbotron showed Lizzo twerking and showing her thong to the camera.
At the time, reactions were split between praise for the singer and criticism of her outfit in a generally family friendly environment.
Lizzo has also found herself in trouble following a sexual harrassment allegation made against her by former members of her live team.

Three backing dancers accused Lizzo of forcing them to touch a naked male stripper at an Amsterdam club.
She denied the allegations, writing: “Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed. These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.”
