Lil Wayne has earned his first-ever diamond plaque over two decades into his legendary music career.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced on Wednesday (December 14) that Weezy F. Baby has joined the diamond club after his 2008 hit “Lollipop” surpassed 10 million sales in the U.S.

“Welcome to the [diamond] club! @LilTunechi earns his first Diamond as #Lollipop reaches 10X multi-Platinum @RepublicRecords @CashMoney,” the RIAA wrote on Twitter while congratulating the New Orleans rap legend.

Wayne reacted to the news with a mix of shock, excitement and gratitude, taking the opportunity to thank his fans in an Instagram post celebrating his achievement.

“My first joint to go diamond wowwww!!!” he wrote. “Thank you to all my fans and supporters I Ain’t Sh*t Without Y’all!!! #LongLiveStaticMajor.”

Released in March 2008, “Lollipop” served as the lead single from Lil Wayne’s momentous sixth album Tha Carter III. Featuring Static Major, who tragically passed away just 16 days prior to its release, the song spent five weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and took home Best Rap Song honors at the 2009 Grammy Awards.

With his inaugural diamond plaque, Weezy now joins his Young Money protégés Drake and Nicki Minaj in the exclusive club of rap acts with at least one diamond single.

Tunechi could soon add to his collection of diamond plaques as Tha Carter III currently sits at 8x-platinum and “A Milli,” which is also from the album, is 6x platinum.
