Lil Wayne has been known for years for always being in the studio, a propensity he made fun of during a recent live video.
The video, shared on Instagram on Wednesday (September 4), shows him giving a “Weezy Wednesday morning” greeting to fans.

“I’m in the studio as usual,” he says. “Just finished working on a couple features. I would tell y’all who it is, but you know I wouldn’t do that. It’d fuck it up. So shoutout to those artists.”
“And I’m working on [Tha] Carter VI, I just want you to know that,” he continued. “I just haven’t finished.”

Then he punned on his always-recording reputation, jokingly saying he already had another 20 albums’ worth of material in the can: “I’m lying — I’m working on Carter 26. I think you already know that.”
The fifth volume of Wayne’s Tha Carter series was released in 2018. In 2023, he released Tha Fix Before Tha VI, a mixtape that was supposed to serve as a prelude to the sixth entry. So far, there is not an official release date for Tha Carter VI.
In other Wayne news, the superstar recently said that he is reuniting with his old group the Hot Boys in their hometown of New Orleans.
On Tuesday (September 3), Wayne announced that he and his former Cash Money cohorts will be performing together at his Lil WeezyAna Festival, which takes place on November 2 at the Smoothie King Center and is produced by Live Nation Urban, Young Money and DMANI.
Attendees will also be treated to a “special” DJ set from fellow Cash Money kingpin Mannie Fresh, as well as a performance from fellow New Orleans native Rob49. Additional artists will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Tickets for the festival go on sale on Friday (September 6) at 8 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster.

A Hot Boys reunion has been teased for almost a year now, but the journey to their upcoming Lil WeezyAna performance has been anything but smooth.
In July, B.G. and Turk began feuding after Birdman’s Cash Money reunion set at Essence Festival, during which he brought out B.G., Juvenile and Mannie Fresh but not Turk. Wayne performed separately at the same event.
