Lil Nas X has heard what everyone has had to say about his controversial single “J. Christ,” and he’s here to tell everyone that he simply does not care what they have to say.

Despite previously apologizing to Christians for being offended by the track, and despite getting backlash from the likes of Hurricane Chris and Lecrae for the song, the “Montero” rapper told Variety that he had no regrets about the way things went.

“I’m proud of my song and the video. Everyone expected me to be upset or something. But I’m a very spiritual person. I’m thankful that I get to even be in the charts and still be in the conversation. And I’m making new music and it’s been so long. So I’m grateful for that,” he said to the outlet.

Lil Nas X also said that though the song didn’t top the charts, he was still able to enjoy its success. “I’m a very spiritual young man. I believe that things are going to work out as long as I’m doing my part. I’ve never worked harder on an album or done more in my life internally to get things right. I’m excited for the outcome,” he said.

This isn’t the first time that Lil Nas X has dismissed the controversy surrounding the single.

Earlier this month, the 24-year-old shared what appeared to be an AI-generated image of several people trying to hoist up an enormous cross with him nailed to it in a manner reminiscent of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

“MY NEW SINGLE IS DEDICATED TO THE MAN WHO HAD THE GREATEST COMEBACK OF ALL TIME!” he wrote in the caption about the messiah’s resurrection, adding that the song devoted to him will drop on January 12.

After receiving tons of backlash for the visual, he clapped back on Twitter with: “the crazy thing is nowhere in the picture is a mockery of jesus. Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world. I’m not making fun of shit. yall just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born. Stfu”
