Lil Dicky has stated that despite Chris Brown‘s many controversies throughout his career, he still has no regrets about working with him in the past.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lil Dicky said he stands by his decision to work with Chris Brown, despite criticism. The pair collaborated on the Dave creator’s 2018 track, “Freaky Friday.”

Dicky affirms that because of the success of that song, it allowed him to create his 2019 charity single, “Earth,” which included Justin Bieber, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, and Kevin Hart, among others.
“I love that song. I still love that song. It went to No. 1 in multiple nations, and without that song, I don’t know that I could have made [a charity single] like ‘Earth,’ where I raised, like, $3 million [to fight against climate change],” he told THR.

According to the Pennsylvania native, he does not take the criticism personally since he knows that his heart is “good.”
He continued: “I know that my heart is good. I really do. I don’t lose sleep at night about my heart. And you can never be perfect, and sometimes I’ll still be dumb and unaware, but I really do care so much about doing the right thing.”

The rapper added: “And listen, I get why someone wouldn’t like a Lil Dicky song, but I’d never be ok with someone being like, ‘That guy’s an asshole,’ or ‘That guy’s a piece of sh*t.’ I’ve never had that experience as Dave Burd, the man, so for my art to cause that reaction, my God, it really hurts me.”
Lil Dicky isn’t the only artist addressing his collaboration with the controversial singer. After facing tons of backlash for collaborating with Chris Brown earlier this year due to the “Loyal” hitmaker’s controversial past, Chloe Bailey revealed that it didn’t faze her.
The collab between the two R&B singers dropped in February, ahead of In Pieces’ March release. Before the song even hit streamers, many took issue with the Bailey sister’s decision to link up with Chris Brown given his history of alleged violence against women.
The singer opened up on the topic when she stopped by to promote her new album In Pieces on Audacy’s V-103 podcast earlier this month. Talking to host Big Tigger, Chlöe emphasized that the hate is nothing new and rolls off her back at this point.

“I always just wanna let the music speak for itself,” she said of “How Does It Feel.” “And to be honest, no matter what I do, people always find things to say about it, so I’m used to it. I just choose to ignore it. People have every right to their opinions, freedom of speech, and it’s up to me to choose what I give my attention and energy to.”
