Lil Dicky Buys Kenny G’s Former Estate For $6.3M

Lil Dicky has become the proud owner of Grammy-winning smooth jazz saxophonist Kenny G’s former estate.

Envisioned by Ojai-based architect Kevin A. Clark, the posh pad was built in the late 1980s. Boasting 5,600 square feet the property gained notoriety as the home of Kenny G, where he lived from 2007 to 2021. He later parted with the estate and its half-acre grounds for just under $3 million.

After an extensive remodel by its new owners, the property — which consists of five bedrooms, five full bathrooms and a single powder room — sitting in L.A.’s Studio City hills, returned to the market last spring, listed at a whopping $7.5 million.

According to Robb Report, tax records indicate the lavish estate just missed the mark, selling for $6.3 million. Lil Dicky (real name David Burd), is listed as the buyer. The 35-year-old Philadelphia native has not commented on the purchase.

Notable features in the home include rustic hardwood floors and numerous sets of French doors that open to gardens; a gym; a wood-paneled library with its very own fireplace; a master bedroom also equipped with a fireplace, spa-style bath, and a private balcony with hillside views; and a detached two-car garage which includes a guest apartment, once used as Kenny G’s at-home recording studio.

News of Lil Dicky’s big buy comes on the heels of his second album drop, PENITH (The DAVE Soundtrack), his first release in nine years.

While Dicky told Variety last June that he hoped to deliver the Dave soundtrack by the end of the summer, the project did not arrive until January 19. Fans have been clamoring for new music from Dicky as original tracks played and performed throughout Dave have become unreleased favorites like “Mr. McAdams.”

“I took a step back and looked at all the different music that’s made it into the first three seasons of the show, there’s enough here, a great body of work and a project that I can put out as a soundtrack,” he said. “I think this is such a better representation of Lil Dicky the musical artist than, honestly, my first album even was.”

HipHopDX rated the Dirty Burd/BMG project 3.3 stars, writing: “For the most part, the songs on PENITH can be broken down into two categories. First are the aimless rap-a-thons that are less-so ‘songs’ and more like radio freestyles laced over simple beats. That may sound like a critique but it isn’t. One of Lil Dicky’s superpowers as a rapper is to perform lyrical miracles over simple yet trunk-rattling beats like he’s back rapping on Sway in the Morning.”
