Lauryn Hill has announced that she is planning to hold a special concert to mark the milestone release of her classic debut album.

It’s been nearly 25 years since Lauryn Hill debuted with her sole studio album,The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998. In addition to its neo-soul elements, the classic album features Hip-Hop and reggae influences as well. Upon its release, the project received critical acclaim and was named one of the year’s best albums. As well as her artistic range, critics praised Hill’s presentation of a woman’s perspective on love and life.

While the Grammy-Award winner has been out of the public eye lately — and hasn’t released another studio album (apart from her MTV Unplugged live album) — she’s ready to celebrate the project that propelled her into superstardom. On Monday (April 3), the Fugees singer shared via Twitter that she would honor her debut album’s 25th anniversary with a special performance at the Wolf Trap in Washington, D.C.

The show is scheduled to take place later this summer on June 9th. “I’ll be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” at @Wolf_Trap on June 9th,” she wrote on Twitter.

2023 is shaping up to be a busy year for the “Ex-Factor” singer. Along with the special performance, Hill is scheduled to headline the annual Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans, Louisiana, alongside Megan Thee Stallion.

Joining Lauryn Hill and Megan Thee Stallion at the 2023 Essence Fest will be Wizkid, Monica, Coco Jones and Kizz Daniel on the Festival of Culture stage.
