Killer Mike is finally receiving his long-overdue flowers, and a part of the props includes him being nominated for three Grammy Awards.
The Atlanta native has been nominated for the prestigious award before — for a featured part on OutKast‘s “The Whole World” in 2003, which the trio actually won.

This year, however, the Run The Jewels rapper has been nominated for three Grammys as a lead artist — and, as he explained on his Instagram page on Friday (November 10), he was feeling a wave of emotions relating to the honor.
“To my Mother, Denise, and Grandparents: I know y’all are with our ancestors, talking to the Lord and lobbying for me!” he began his post, praising his late mother before celebrating his late grandmother. “Miss Bettie, you and Willie Burke are gonna be proud. I promise. Denise aka Mommy, thank you for allowing and encouraging my love of art and music. You especially encouraged my love of Hip Hop. Lord willing, I’m gonna bring home some trophies as a tribute to y’all, baby!”

Mike then went on to list “all the creatives and professionals who have worked tirelessly to make this moment a reality,” before signing off: “I am humbled, honored, and grateful. #NiecysBoy #MissBettiesBabyBoy #MICHAEL.”

The Recording Academy unveiled the full list of nominees on Friday ahead of the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, which take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California on February 4, 2024.
SZA leads all artists with nine nominations, including in each of the three major categories: Album of the Year (SOS), Record of the Year (“Kill Bill”), and Song of the Year (“Kill Bill”).
In the rap division, Drake and 21 Savage‘s Her Loss, Travis Scott‘s UTOPIA, Nas and Hit-Boy‘s King’s Disease 3, Metro Boomin‘s Heroes & Villains, and Killer Mike‘s Michael will battle it out for Best Rap Album.
Competing for Best Rap Song are Doja Cat‘s “Attention,” Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World,” Lil Uzi Vert‘s “Just Wanna Rock,” Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex” and Killer Mike’s “Scientists & Engineers” collaboration with André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane.
