Killer Mike‘s longstanding plans are finally coming to fruition, as his restaurant Bankhead Seafood (which he and T.I., along with other partners, bought in 2018) is finally remodeled and on the verge of opening.

Bankhead Seafood was an Atlanta staple for half a century, until it closed in 2018. A few years Mike and Tip purchased the historic spot, in February 2020, they shared a rendering of what they envisioned the revamped restaurant would look like.

On Friday (July 19), Mike took to Instagram to share photos of the actual buildout.

@bankheadseafood coming like soon!” he wrote in the caption. “extra thanks to my Brother/Potna/Business Partner @tip! We going from trapping on Bankhead to Jobs Providing and economy building. Bravo Black man! Bravo.”

The restaurant’s website and Instagram both still say that the restaurant is slated to open in 2021. But Mike wrote in his caption, “We almost Ready!” so the reopening appears to be coming soon.

In addition to putting the finishing touches on his restaurant, Mike has been busy delivering new music.

The rapper addressed his controversial arrest at the 2024 Grammy Awards on his new song “Humble Me.”

The Atlanta rap legend released the track after winning Album of the Year at the BET Awards on June 30, which was coincidentally held at L.A.’s Peacock Theatre, the same location as his arrest.

Featuring Muhammad Ali on the intro giving a speech about humility, the song and accompanying black and white video capture the Run The Jewels rapper in a braggadocious yet reflective mood.

“I won at the Grammys/ For spitting my grammar/ Did that for Atlanta/ Swept up like a janitor/ Got sent to the slammer / Treat me like an animal or some kind of Hannibal,” he raps over muscular production from Tec Beatz, Cory Henry and Cuz Lightyear.

On the God-fearing track, he adds: “The Devil be doing you right when you doing it/ The Devil will ruin you/ Behind me Satan/ I walked out the door, my head up and handcuffs with pride.”

The song also sees Mike recalling his mental state during his brief incarceration: “I had to quiet my mind, I prayed and I prayed and I prayed/ The liars were lying their lies/ I kept on just keeping my faith/ The Devil put me on this whipping post/ The Lord did not lie on there with me/ So I went to sleep as free as can be and the next day my son got a kidney.”
