Kid Cudi has unveiled the latest chapter in his INSANO era, and it takes place in Asia — a new South Korea-set music video for the INSANO (NITRO MEGA) cut “Superboy.”

The clip, directed by Cudi and veteran filmmaker Jason Goldwatch, was filmed during Cudi’s 2023 trip to the country. Among the locations are Dongdaemun History & Culture Park in Seoul.

“Love to everyone I met on the journey and shout out to The Teriyaki Boyz especially my guy Verbal!!!” Cudi wrote on X following the release of the clip.

“SUPERBOY” appears on the February 2024 LP INSANO (NITRO MEGA), a companion release to Cudder’s INSANO, released the prior month.

“More than just a bonus edition with a few extra tracks, NITRO MEGA is a mammoth 18 tracks long and as much as anything, an indication of what the decidedly uneven original album could have been,” wroteHipHopDX‘s Sam Moore.

NITRO MEGA is less chasing the trap bounce of close collaborator Travis Scott and more Cudi on the home territory that combines his somber voice to futuristic sonics that pull from a vast wall of influence.

“While INSANO found Cudi in a more openly celebratory mode, NITRO MEGA has more worthy moments of introspection but is also weighed down with leftovers that were deemed not good enough for the first release.”

Moore specifically praised “SUPERBOY.”

“The album…surges positively on the final stretch and ends on a high point with the dramatic ‘Superboy’ which captures the ethereal qualities of Cudi’s earlier work, even if it does lack the thematic and lyrical depth of something like “GHOST!” from Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager,” he wrote.

Cudi has been releasing new music in addition to new videos. Earlier this week, he released “Dreams I See” to accompany his latest comic book.

Produced by Rami Beatz and Matt Spatola, the track finds the Lonely Stoner delivering vintage Man on the Moon vibes as he raps, sings and hums over a spacey yet drum-heavy backdrop.

The song accompanies the latest edition of Mr. Rager’s Moon Man comic book series, which hit shelves on Wednesday (July 10) and further brings his sonic universe to life in illustrated form.

The new song and comic book is also accompanied by a limited-edition clothing collection featuring four designs based on the artwork from the latest iteration of the series.
