Kid Cudi has reached another milestone in his career, as his influential style and aesthetic has been recognized by an academic institution that specializes in fashion.

On Friday (December 8), the Cleveland native shared footage from this year’s graduation ceremony at Istituto Marangoni Miami, a fashion and design school located in the Florida city. In the Instagram post, he can be seen wearing a custom-made cap and gown next to his mother as he shows off the honorary master’s degree in fashion design he was awarded with the Class of 2023.

“Today was a really special day,” he captioned the post. “Man, words cant really express how I felt/feel now in this moment. Im happy, I feel complete, accomplished, validated, all the things that bring immense joy. My mom sharing this moment w me was everything. She got emotional, and it was such a special memory we’ll have together forever.

“I never walked across any stage. I got my GED in high school and only did a year of college. My mom finally got to see me achieve what I thought id never do. And it was beautiful. Thank you to @istitutomarangoni_miami , the wholE staff/faculty and ESPECIALLY the STUDENTS (THE FUTURE!!) for welcoming me and my family and friends w open arms and blessing me w this prestigious honor.”

He concluded: “Holy f**k I got my masters”

The school also wrote about honoring the 39-year-old in a social media post, announcing that earnings from his Members of the Rage pop-up outlet will be donated to their scholarship fund.

“This honorary degree from Istituto Marangoni Miami recognizes Scott’s (@kidcudi) accomplishments and vision in shaping the scene of modern fashion and luxury with Members of the Rage (@membersoftherage),” the institution’s official Instagram page shared. “Recognizing the inspiration he is to young creatives. Is an honor for us to present this to the world of fashion worldwide and also a statement in the continuos pursuit of education in fashion and design, it is the future and the present of creativity.

The “Mr. Rager” hitmaker has long been one of Hip Hop’s biggest fashionistas, and he recently teamed up with his friend and longtime collaborator NIGO to create a new clothing line.

In early October, the rapper and singer took to Instagram to announce WZRD CWBY, “a new brand by Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, in collaboration with @nigo,” which he said would be “coming soon.”

Though no date was given, he added that it was “Made in Tokyo,” As of now, it is still unclear whether that was referring to the products themselves or the location of the brand’s headquarters.

This is Cudi’s second clothing line of 2023. He launched Members of the Rage over the summer at a department store in London. Billed as “90s grunge with the soul of hip hop and elements from a distant future,” he originally planned to debut the line in Paris in 2022.
