Kendrick Lamar and Drake don’t belong in the Top 10 greatest rappers of all time just yet, according to Charlamagne Tha God.
The Breakfast Club co-host weighed in on Billboard and VIBE’sTop 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list on air this week, and wasn’t afraid to contest Kendrick and Drake’s placements at No. 2 and No. 8, respectively.

According to Charlamagne, it’s “too early” for the Compton and Toronto top dogs to be mentioned in the G.O.A.T. rappers conversation as their careers are both far from finished.
“I feel like it’s too early for Drake and Kendrick to be saying stuff like that,” he said as DJ Envy read aloud Billboard and VIBE‘s Top 10 picks. “Of all time? God damn! Penis is a form of transportation for y’all.”
Despite Charlamagne Tha God’s comments, Kendrick Lamar and Drake have been two of the top rappers in the game for more than a decade. Both have achieved huge commercial success and critical acclaim while pushing the culture to new heights and winning the respect of their peers and fans alike.
Drizzy continued to assert his mainstream dominance earlier this month by becoming the first artist to amass 75 billion streams on Spotify, while K. Dot picked up three new awards at the 2023 Grammys last weekend, making him the third most decorated rapper at the Grammys behind JAY-Z and Kanye West.

Elsewhere on Billboard and VIBE‘s Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list, Hov reigned supreme at No. 1, while Nas, 2Pac, Eminem, Biggie, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj rounded out the top 10.
Kanye West came in at No. 11, followed by André 3000, Rakim, LL COOL J, J. Cole, Scarface, 50 Cent, Ice Cube, Missy Elliott, Big Daddy Kane and more.
Charlamagne Tha God isn’t the only personality who has had something to say about the list. Ice Cube threw shade at Billboard by questioning their Hip Hop credentials, despite being ranked at No. 18, while Ja Ruletook issue with being left off the list entirely.
“There ain’t 50 rappers dead, alive or waiting to be born better than me… #ICONN #Vibes,” the former Murder Inc. hitmaker tweeted on Thursday (February 9). “@billboard congrats to everyone on the list well deserved but check my resume… #ICONN #Vibes.”

As for his own greatest rappers of all time list, Charlamagne showed his affinity for both New York and Atlanta by naming JAY-Z, Nas, Scarface, Ghostface Killah, Killer Mike, T.I. and Jeezy.
The Breakfast Club‘s guest co-host Ray J also listed his favorite MCs ever during Thursday’s broadcast, reeling off JAY-Z, Lil Wayne, Biggie, 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Eminem.
