Kelly Rowland has received support from Marlon Wayans over negative reports about her recent planned appearance on the Today show.

The former Destiny’s Child star made headlines late last week after it was claimed she abruptly exited the show because her dressing room wasn’t up to par.

Rowland appeared on the NBC morning show on Thursday (February 15) as a guest to promote her new movie Mea Culpa and was expected to return later in the episode as a guest host, but “dramatically walked off set.”

“Kelly and her team were not happy. They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving [Hoda Kotb] without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour,” a source told Page Six.

On Sunday (February 18), Wayans took to Instagram to defend Kelly Rowland from the backlash against her reported “diva moment,” urging critics to get their facts right.

“Yall stop with these false narratives. I’ve worked with @kellyrowland as a Star/producer i will honestly say she was nothing short of AMAZING,” he wrote. “Sweet, kind, professional. On time, great energy, impeccable manners and professionalism. She was nice to EVERYONE on set.

“Not one diva moment. Shit happens in Hollywood. Get both sides before you castrate anymore legends. Love this woman. Yall stop this BS. This woman was nothing short of a humble loving queen… PERIOD.”

Marlon Wayans’ post comes shortly after Kelly Rowland received support from her longtime friend and former groupmate Beyoncé, albeit for a more positive reason.

Last week, Bey played cheerleader for Rowland over the release of her aforementioned film, which recently held its premiere in Los Angeles and will be released on Netflix on Friday (February 23).

As passion ignites, the story spirals into a dangerous game of desire and deceit, reminiscent of classic thrillers like The Talented Mr. Ripley and American Psycho.

“This idea came to me because I love all of those older thrillers from the ’80s and ’90s,” Perry told Tudum. “It was fun to explore the best and worst of humanity through the genre of an exotic thriller.”
