Kelis and Bill Murray have pulled the plug on their whirlwind summer romance, calling it quits after just a few months together.
The pair’s split was announced via Metro and it was confirmed on Friday (August 25) that there was no ill will between the two.

“Kelis and Bill were — and still are — very fond of each other but things just ran their course,” a source close to the couple told the outlet. “They both have busy schedules and after a whirlwind romance decided to go their separate ways.”
The source also told the outlet that Kelis and Bill Murray hope to remain friends, but that they very much will be “getting on with their lives.”

Back in June, the May-December couple sent the internet into a frenzy when Bill was spotted at the “Milkshake” singer’s Mighty Hoopla set in London. Murray had also been spotted following her around at several other shows.
Sources close to the situation said the two were also seen at the same hotel and had been “getting close for a while” since meeting back in the States. The rumored couple even took a snap together.

“Whatever it is that has brought them together, and however unlikely it seems, they are both single and are having fun despite the fairly big age gap,” the source claimed.
The two bonded over the passing of their subsequent partners — Kelis’ second husband, Mike Mora, died in March last year, while Murray’s estranged wife, Jennifer, passed away in 2021.
Prior to marrying Mike Mora, Kelis was previously married to Nas for several years before the singer filed for divorce from the rapper in 2009, citing “mental and physical abuse.” The two were officially divorced a year later.
Shortly after the Kelis and Bill Murray rumors got some legs, Kelis posted a bikini-clad picture to Instagram, which caused fans to immediately flock to the comment section with Bill Murray speculation, including one fan who accused Kelis of “riding his wave” to fame and fortune. Kelis replied but didn’t confirm nor deny reports that she had a new beau.
