Kanye West made a rare public appearance in Ireland over the weekend to meet up with longtime friend and potential collaborator Steve Lacy.
On Friday (September 1), the Compton native performed on the first of three nights of the annual Electric Picnic festival in Stradbally, County Laois. During his set, Ye was present in the audience and the two were even photographed hugging each another upon linking up.

According to Kurrco, the Yeezy boss played some new music for Lacy during their time together. Only a brief clip of the song was recorded by an attendee who didn’t even point the camera up, so it seems like it wasn’t a part of Lacy’s performance.

Last year, however, Steve Lacy revealed that he had been in the studio with West, though fans anticipating a collaborative project between the two will have to be patient. TMZ spoke with the “Bad Habits” singer at Los Angeles International Airport last August, and when asked if he’d been in the studio with Ye, he replied: “Always, he never stops.”
He was then asked if the duo have an album cooking up. “Nah, I mean we just got a friendship,” Lacy said. “But I’m around, he’s making stuff around me constantly.”
However, the Gemini Rights crooner did explain the meaning behind the pair’s matching “We Here Forever Technically” tattoos that they got on their left biceps alongside Lil Uzi Vert.
He said the new ink philosophically means: “We’re artists, we never die, technically.”
Kanye West has remained one of Steve Lacy’s staunchest supporters through it all and he even gave the singer some serious praise when Gemini Rights dropped in 2022.
