New Orleans, LA

Juvenile has been honored with his own day in New Orleans to commemorate the 25th anniversary of “Back That Azz Up,” which he’s also celebrating with a massive tour.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell declared this week that Tuesday (June 11) will now be known as “Back That Azz Up Day” in the city in honor of the rapper’s iconic 1999 hit.

His post included a clip of him explaining the song’s creation and impact: “‘Back That Azz Up’ was the introduction to bounce music to the world. A lot of people don’t know, it was met with, ‘Nah, maybe the world not ready for it.’ Fast forward, it’s stood the test of time.”

The massive 65-date run is set to begin on July 7 in New Orleans, before circling back and wrapping up in Juve’s hometown on December 31.
