Drake and Kendrick Lamar‘s high-profile battle has been hotly debated by fans and fellow rappers alike — and that includes the currently incarcerated Tory Lanez.
During the latest episode of his eponymous podcast, Joe Budden revealed that he recently spoke to Tory over the phone from prison and discussed what has been deemed by many as the greatest rap beef ever.

“I spoke to Tory that night,” he said. “He picks Drake. He picks Drake in the battle. I’m in the strip club bathroom while he’s just telling me all the ways of why Drake won.”
However, Budden clarified that their phone call took place the night Drizzy dropped his diss song “Family Matters” and said he doesn’t think Tory had heard Kendrick’s response record “Meet the Grahams,” which was released less than an hour later.

Drake and Tory Lanez were also embroiled in a feud some years ago that saw them trade subliminal shots on songs like “Summer Sixteen” and “Uber Everywhere (Freestyle).”
The pair seemingly clashed over their shared Toronto background, but they eventually buried the hatchet in 2017 and have been on good terms since.

Tory Lanez isn’t alone in thinking Drake emerged victorious over Kendrick Lamar, with Akademiks echoing that view during a recent appearance on comedian Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant podcast.
However, many in Hip Hop — including Budden himself — believe that the Compton rapper has come out on top.
“I think [Kendrick] won this off skill. He was much better than Drake the whole way,” Budden said on his aforementioned podcast earlier this week, following the release of Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” and Drake’s “The Heart Part 6.”
“If I’m battling you, I need to have my options ready for all the variables; Drake didn’t. And if you feel that way, then when I was telling you to stop saying that I’m outside looking for the n-gga that saying he been outside.”

Budden then joked about a line on Drake’s previous diss song “Push Ups”: “This n-gga said, ‘You gonna make me have to wake the demon up.’ You know how many fucking sleeping pills I’ve taken in my life? What type of sleeping pills the demon taking?
“That demon is snoring! He lost unequivocally. The n-gga took it from him.”
