Joe Budden has made his feelings known on Rick Ross and Meek Mill’s collaborative album Too Good to Be True, and he is not a fan.
Speaking on his podcast, Budden called the album a “money grab” and said it did not meet his high expectations for a full-length collaboration from the MMG duo — but he did have some nice things to say about the album also.

“Meek and Ross, that was all over the place,” he said. “It’s cool loud. If you turn it all the way up, it’s cool. I love the Wale record on there, I love that record. It’s a few more records on there I love.
“I love all the records that are three minutes and 40 seconds long. There’s a lot that’s not that long — they’re shorter. When they do that, whatever they’re talking about jumps out on the track to me.”

Elaborating on his critique of the album, he continued: “Them n-ggas ain’t talking about nothing. They ain’t said nothing on that whole project. Not a word, not a thing […] It was a money grab, for sure. I don’t think [there’s] nothing wrong [with that] — they got the money.
“When I hear Ross and Meek, it’s classic time for me. So this was cool, but my bar for them is high-high.”
Despite being underwhelmed by Rick Ross’ latest release, Joe Budden has praised the MMG mogul in the past and even called for him to take on T.I. in a Verzuz battle.
The former Slaughterhouse rapper wants the two titans of Southern rap to fight it out, saying on his podcast last year: “Ross got more than 40 records that he can play with. So now I’m back with a different 20. ‘John’ in front of T.I. looks different than ‘John’ in front of 2 Chainz.”

He continued: “I don’t think Ross will have time for the strippers to come out against T.I. It won’t be time for massages, speeches — that’s T.I. There’s a few people that won that need to come back and do it again.”
Ross took on 2 Chainz in August 2020 and was judged the winner, while T.I. has still yet to appear on the rap battle series despite having challenged 50 Cent.
Rick Ross and Meek Mill’s Too Good to Be True was released on November 10 via Maybach Music Group and Gamma. Despite star-studded features from the likes of Future, DJ Khaled and Shaquille O’Neal, it achieved lower than expected sales.
Meek defended the album’s numbers in several social media posts, writing: “It’s says me and Ross on pace to sell 35k first week I would post if it said 350k… I’m too nice and rich to be rapping in a control music environment that’s why we dropping music on Fridays it’s doesn’t make sense.”
