Joe Budden has declared that he “hates” Childish Gambino‘s latest album Bando Stone & The New World.
Reviewing the album on his self-titled podcast, the former Slaughterhouse member explained his issues with the rapper and actor’s latest musical offering.

Budden began by saying: “I hate it! I absolutely fucking hate it. I’m sorry. I know I’m gaining a reputation as a hater — fast […] If you spoke as much as I have to speak for a living, eventually you’d have to start telling the truth about some things.”
Despite his harsh criticism, the podcaster admitted that he purchased “about four” songs from Bando Stone & The New World which he’s a fan of, but found the album to be “really, really, really pop.”

After admitting that he prefers Gambino’s music in the vein of “Urn,” the mellow soul-funk cut from 2013’s Because the Internet, Budden praised “Steps Beach” and said: “For me, there wasn’t enough of this particular style on here. But this is crazy.”
He later mocked the Sade-esque “No Excuses,” calling it a “bisexual” song.
“He got real alternative,” he said while listening to the track. “Let him get in his bisexual bag! Nah, this song is like you’re taking all takers. Whoever trying to holla at the club, you down. It’s fire, though.”
Joe Budden’s review of Bando Stone & The New World didn’t address the fact that Childish Gambino seemingly dissed him on the album.
On the track “Survive,” which features Chloe Bailey, Gambino appeared to jab Budden over his past rap career and pivot to podcasting.

“They in the minor leagues, but I’m pro-black / I bet he hate his mom, how you know that? / You got a podcast ’cause you can’t rap / You on some Fresh and Fit shit, talking body counts / I count a body every time I’m on tracks,” he rapped.
Budden, of course, retired from rapping in 2018 and pivoted to a successful career in podcasting, where he has ruffled more than a few feathers with his takes on Drake, Cardi B, his old label boss Eminem and others.
Fresh and Fit is a nod to the podcast of the same name, whose hosts have also clashed with the “Pump It Up” rapper, while Budden and his co-hosts discussed “body counts” — the term for the number of sexual partners a person has had — in an episode of their show last year.
Gambino’s gripe with Budden may stem from comments he made last year when he claimed that Drake would destroy him in a battle — and not just a lyrical one.

“If those two have a parody-off, now I’m in. If they have a skit-off — ’cause they both are talented in that regard,” Budden said, before declaring: “Drake’ll smoke that n-gga’s boots. Drake’ll smoke that n-gga’s fucking muffin.”
