Jim Jones wasn’t too happy about being asked about Max B in a recent interview, and didn’t hide his annoyance.
During a sit-down with DJUTV, the Harlem rapper refused to discuss his long-running rap rival, explaining he doesn’t talk about people who are dead or in jail.

“I don’t talk about dead people and I don’t talk about people locked up, ya heard?” he said when the interviewer brought up Max B’s name. “If I say some shit, I wanna be able to say it to your face if I have to, ya dig?
“That was one thing I always made it a point to do, so just keep that in mind for the next time you speak to a real n-gga and talk about dead people or somebody that’s locked up.”
The interviewer responded by speaking about being from Chicago and how fans of the channel want to know about rappers who are dead or locked up.
“I know how it go in Chicago, I know how they speak on they opps, I know the whole thing and shit like that,” Jones replied. “But where I’m from, I come from a different time. I come from real hustlers and shit like that — n-ggas that really got money and really was in the street.

“And certain code and certain things that I’m just not accustomed to doing. You talking about a dead person holds no merit to me, ya heard? If that’s your opp, you already won, you not here no more no matter what were the circumstances.”
Jim Jones and Max B’s feud stretches back to the 2000s following the latter’s departure from ByrdGang. But in March 2020, Max expressed his disappointment over the situation during a prison interview.

“I think two egos was just coming together,” he said at the time. “Two big personalities. You know, I wasn’t there for that. I was just happy to be involved, you know what I’m saying? In the game. I’m never trying to come take nobody shit. I’m in my own world, b. I’m like, I’m existentialist.
“I like to do my own shit, come from a whole ‘nother spot. It was just egos clashing. A lack of respect. That shit don’t mix well, and next thing you know, we beefing. So, as far as the content or whatever, it shoulda went a different way. I think today, we would’ve handled the situation different.”
Max B (real name Charley Wingate) has been behind bars since 2009 when he was sentenced to 75 years in prison on conspiracy charges related to armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault and felony murder.
The self-proclaimed Wave God is alleged to have plotted to rob two men with his stepbrother, Kelvin Leerdam, and ex-girlfriend, Gina Conway, at a Holiday Inn in New Jersey in 2006. The botched robbery resulted in one of the men being shot dead.

Max’s sentence has since been substantially shortened, with the rapper revealing in 2019 that it was cut to just 12 years for undisclosed reasons. He’s due to be released from prison in April, his friend and collaborator French Montana claimed earlier this month.
