“You know, rap is a stepping stone,” he began. “Of course when you’re young, you’re gonna blow some money, have some fun and do some reckless things. But if you’re able to have a career and be in it for a minute, you want to start graduating and doing some things, owning some stuff. We got six juice bars. Styles and his wife got the Farmacy For Life. You know, the supplements is doing well and then I got the Kiss Cafe coffee with my son and my dad.”
He continued: “You know, the Hip Hop industry can teach you a lot if you just keep your head up, eyes and ears open about ownership. You go through so much stuff with clearances and things like that with the label that you should get to a point in your life where you want to own everything that your name is on or that you invest in. You want to try to be the sole owner or own a big percentage.”
You can watch the full interview below — the ownership conversation happens around the 7:24 mark.
Over the weekend, the Hip Hop legend and entrepreneur was honored alongside his LOX groupmate Styles P for their efforts to give back to the local community in their hometown of Yonkers.
In a speech at the Thanksgiving event, Mayor Mike Spano said: “You look around and you see Styles and you see Jadakiss. They’re not the only two famous people to come out of Yonkers, but they’re the only famous people that continue to come back and give back to Yonkers. Let’s hear it for them.”

After the crowd gave cheers and applause for the pair, Spano also gave a shout out to the rest of the Ruff Ryders crew at the event, which saw 10,000 turkeys given away for Thanksgiving, one of the largest such events in the New York area.
Additionally, Spano claimed that next year’s turkey drive was aiming to beat the world record of 15,000 turkeys.
Styles P and Jadakiss have spearheaded a lot of charity work in their hometown, with the former just last week hosting a plant-based communal dining event which gave away free food and also pharmaceuticals.
Jada has also committed to food drives around Yonkers neighborhoods. He started the drives in honor of his late friend and fellow Yonkers native DMX in 2021.
