Jack Harlow is front and center in the first trailer for the upcoming White Men Can’t Jump reboot, which sees the Kentucky rapper show off a few of his basketball skills.
Arriving on Sunday (February 5), the trailer for the 20th Century Studios film, which is set to land on Hulu on May 19, shows the very first look at Harlow and his co-star Sinqua Walls in character.

The 30-second teaser doesn’t reveal too much, but it looks like the Calmatic-directed flick follows the same storyline as the original 1992 film about a pair of basketball hustlers who team up to make themselves some extra cash.
The name of Harlow’s character has yet to be revealed, but it looks like the “First Class” hitmaker takes on a similar role to Billy Hoyle in the original, who was played by Woody Harrelson.

Walls stars as a new character named Kamal Allen, who is likely a revamped version of Sidney Dean, the loud-mouthed guard played by Wesley Snipes in the first film.

During an interview with Yahoo last summer, three-time Oscar-nominated Harrelson gave Harlow his blessing and revealed he thinks the reboot will be better than the original.
“I feel great [about it],” he said during a chat with Kevin Hart for their The Man from Toronto movie. “I think Jack’s probably gonna crush it. They’re gonna make a better movie than we made. I’m looking forward to watching it.”

Rosie Perez — who starred as Gloria Clemente in the original film — spoke to NME about the new film and how chemistry will be the key to their success on screen.
“I hope they get the chemistry back, the same chemistry [Woody Harrelson, Wesley Snipes and I] had,” she said in May last year. “We’ve remained friends throughout the years – not ‘Hollywood friends,’ but real friends who call each other and say, ‘Let’s hang out.’ The secret was in the casting, it’s the most fun I’ve ever had on a set and it’s undeniable that, 30 years later, that chemistry is still palpable.”
Despite landing a role in the reboot, Harlow admitted last year that he never actually saw the original movie until the acting opportunity came up.
“Can I be honest,” he said at the Met Gala last May. “I was obviously familiar with it, it’s an iconic title and I’ve seen the movie poster, but I didn’t watch it until I got offered the role. I see why it’s a classic.”

Meanwhile, earlier this week, the rapper was honored with the Thomas A. Edison Award in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
“We’re going to do some incredible things in the city over the next few years, I promise you,” he said as he picked up the award honoring his achievements both on and off the main stage as well as his commitment to repping his city.
