Iggy Azalea has spoken about the moment she decided to end her relationship with Playboi Carti, calling the Atlanta rapper a “volatile” partner.
Iggy opened up about the experience while a guest on model/actress Emily Ratajkowski’s EmRata podcast, and said she left Carti not long after she gave birth to their son Onyx.

“Like, right after I had my son, I left his father,” she said. “Something happened one day with my son’s father and me, and it was just one of those moments where you’re just like, ‘I didn’t wake up thinking this is what my day would be.’ But by the end of the day, I was on a plane to Los Angeles and I never went back.”
She continued: “I didn’t think I was going to be leaving when I left. My father and my mother had such a volatile relationship that I wish I had seen less of it. And so that was what happened to me in that moment that I had on that day.
“I was like, I will never let my son see this because I don’t want him to see someone talk to me this way too, but because I don’t want him to ever learn this, I don’t want him to be exposed to this.”
This isn’t the first time Iggy Azalea has criticized Playboi Carti. After the Whole Lotta Red rapper praised her as “best mother in the world” in an interview with XXL last year, Iggy slammed her baby daddy for being an absentee father.
“You’ve been mislead,” she tweeted. “I don’t fuck with a man I’m not even remotely on good terms with claiming he pay my bills. I pay my bills. Secondly, saying nice things for an interview sounds great but in real life he talks to me like shit so badly I had to stop all direct contact.”

She added: “His team has been calling about the interview, hoping for my silence because they know what my reaction would be. I do appreciate being called a great mom but when that’s not reflective of what he has to say in real life I’d much rather be left out of being mentioned at all.”
The “Fancy” rapper also came for Carti again shortly after he was arrested in December for allegedly choking his pregnant girlfriend.
“Been there. Done that. Warned you,” Azalea wrote on Twitter. “Imagine having a pregnant girlfriend and pretending they don’t exist until it comes out you like to abuse them too – & rarely visiting your actual son unless is because you’re running from whatever problems ya got going on in Atlanta & the press with your serial abuse of woman.”
She continued: “Anyway. I’m having an actually amazing day! karmas real! Treat the people you love well! Happy Valentine’s Day.”

Iggy Azalea and Playboi Carti began dating in 2018 and broke up at some point in 2020. They have a two-year-old son together named Onyx Carter, who was born in April 2020.
