After a troubled 2008 that landed him in jail, it appears DMX is headed home soon. Pam Pinnock, a publicist from X‘s camp, tells XXL the troubled Arizona transplant could be released as soon as May 19, after being charged in a previous incident which delayed his release date. Last year DMX faced an assortment of charges ranging from animal cruelty, assault, drug possession and identity theft [click to read].
In regards to reports that X will join VH1‘s “Celebrity Rehab” [click to read], Pinnock released the following statement:
“Several media outlets have reported that my client Earl Simmons, aka DMX has signed on to appear in VH1‘s ‘Celebrity Rehab’ Reality Show. These reports are false and Mr. Simmons has not greed to appear in any reality show. Mr. Simmon’s is currently serving a 90 day jail sentence at Tent City Jail in Arizona. He has expressed great appreciation to the overwhelming amount of support he has received from his fans during this difficult time. He would like his fans to know that he is taking this time to focus on his personal as well as spiritual growth, and is looking forward to being released soon.”
Another emcee hoping to make the transition from behind bars to rapping 16 bars again is Ras Kass [click to read]. QN5‘s Domingo tells AllHipHop.com that the prolific California rapper is scheduled to be released on May 29. Ras was arrested and jailed in 2007 after violating his parole by flying to the BET Awards in Atlanta, Georgia.
