With a first quarter that saw none of 2009’s releases reach platinum status, and tax day also right around the corner, the current economic crunch is showing no signs of ending soon. Peter Rosenberg and Vanderbilt University are respectively offering separate options for those hoping to see some quality, live Hip Hop and still keep the bills paid.

Rosenberg kicks things off on April 15, with the third installment of his Noisemakers series at 92Y Tribeca; Wednesday’s session will pay tribute to
Q-Tip [click to read].

“I never do my taxes on time, so for me [the date] was a coincidence,”Rosenberg joked, while speaking with HipHopDX. “For the responsible people who turned their shit in on time it’s a nice way to celebrate. From a Hip Hop perspective, it’s a pretty chill, engaging night.”

As usual, Igmar Thomas and The Cypher will provide a live musical tribute, and the event will also feature a question and answer session with Q-Tip.

“We always end up talking about random Tribe and Native Tongue stuff, that even I had no idea about,” Rosenberg explains. “And he’s got a ton of those stories, which always come off well. When you think about all the things that have or already did happen to those Tribe records, you really get an appreciation of how near and dear they are to the average Hip Hop head’s heart.”

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. for Noisemakers featuring Q-Tip, and admission is $15. For more information, visit www.rosenbergradio.comwww.92YTribeca.org or call (212) 601-1000.
