Mobb Deep‘s Prodigy (aka Albert Johnson) filed documents in Manhattan Supreme Court on March 23 alleging the Vox Music Group failed to pay him over $30,000 in royalties. Prior to reporting to prison on weapons charges, P signed a deal with Vox Music Group to translate his H.N.I.C. 2 album [click to read] into over 1,400 languages [click to read].
According to documents obtained by the New York Post, Vox Music Group agreed to pay Prodigy $10,300 per month. The suit alleges that Vox has missed three payments and failed to give the imprisoned rapper a semiannual royalty statement, all of which have placed P‘s family in “financial peril.”
During its announcement, the deal marked the first time Voxonic translation technology was used for a Hip Hop artist. Vox Music Group has not publicly addressed Prodigy‘s claims.
