Fort Lee, New Jersey police officers arrested Darnell “King Tut” Brittingham and Brandon Buckley on drug charges during a motor vehicle stop Wednesday night. Sources state Officer Dennis Pothos stopped the pair for several motor vehicle violations at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Route 46 in New Jersey. Based on information from the New Jersey Star-Ledger, Brittingham and Buckley were likely stopped for tailgaiting and a full or partial violation of New Jersey’s tinted windows statute (Law 39:3-75).
Pothos reports he smelled an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle and also saw marijuana, which prompted his search. Authorities reportedly found a digital scale and empty plastic packaging bags. Police Captain Joseph Zevitz says a further search turned up multiple small plastic bags of marijuana and a half ounce of cocaine stuffed inside a toy bear. Both men were charged with manufacturing/distribution or intent to manufacture/distribute a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brittingham is currently unsigned as an artist, but has a loose affiliation with Freekey Zeekey‘s [click to read] 730 Dips imprint; he is currently being held on $25,000 bail. Buckley is being held on $15,000 bail.
