The recent recession, and subsequent drop in album sales has brought bad news to the likes of record labels such as EMI, Warner and Sony [click to read]. A few unsubstantiated reports listed the label formerly known as Koch Records among those affected, but the label’s top execs assert that they are not only avoiding industry cutbacks, but looking to thrive under the new name of E1 Music Group.
“We are looking at the best year in our history,”E1 General Manager MusicAlan Grunblatt stated via press release. “We are just changing our name to E1 and will continue to change the game.”
E1 also states that its executive staff positions will remain in tact. Previous reports listed Jim Jones as the VP Of Urban A&R, with both Jones and Grunblatt offering thoughts on the matter [click to read]. As it currently stands, the position of Urban A&R Director is helmed by Bob Perry, while Shadow Stokes serves as VP of Urban Promotion.
