Roughly one year after, Dr. Donda West, died of complications from a cosmetic surgery procedure [click to read], her nephew, Stephan Scoggins, is being investigated. People.com reports Russ Heimerich, a public information officer for the California Department of Consumer Affairs issued subpoenas asking individuals “to testify in the matter of the investigation of Stephan Scoggins.”

Scoggins, 46, is a registered nurse, and supervised West‘s post-surgery care with the help of Kanye‘s assistant and a friend. Socggins reportedly left West, who was heavily bandaged and taking the pain pill, Vocodin, for post-operation bouts of pain. According to various reports, Scoggins was at a baby shower and unreachable when West‘s condition worsened.

After a January coroner’s report ruled that multiple post-operation factors contributed to West‘s death, the focus shifted from the performing surgeon, Dr. Jan Adams [click to read], to Scoggins. An unnamed source also tells People.com that investigators are looking into allegations that Scoggins administered too much Vicodin to West. Heimerich refused to comment on the matter, due to the fact that the investigation is still ongoing.
