The Celtics went on to win 120-108 after being down by 15 points late in the third quarter, with Boston star Jayson Tatum contributing 13 points, five rebounds, 13 assists and one steal to the Chase Center victory.

At the end of the game, JAY-Z stepped out from his courtside seat to show love to Tatum with a conversation and embrace, before taking a photo together.

JAY-Z was also pictured at the game alongside E-40 and MLB legend Barry Bonds. No I.D. and Mistah F.A.B. were among the other celebrities in attendance, along with film director Spike Lee, NBA champions Gary Payton and Bill Walton, Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey and professional poker player Phil Hellmuth.

Jayson Tatum is notable a JAY-Z fan. In April, he took to Twitter to praise Hov’s verse on Pusha T’s “Neck & Wrist,” which appeared on the No. 1 album It’s Almost Dry.

“The phase I’m on love, I wouldn’t believe it neither,” he tweeted, referencing the Brooklyn native’s subliminal jab at Friday actor Faizon Love. “don’t let that one go over y’all head… Hov snapped.”

In fact, Tatum believes JAY-Z has the best rap album of all time. In December 2020, he called The Black Album “the greatest Hip Hop album ever” in response to a TIDAL tweet for the 17th anniversary of the LP.

Game 2 of the NBA Finals is set to take place on Sunday (June 5) at Chase Center, before heading to TD Garden on Wednesday (June 8) for Game 3.
