Cardi B was one of many celebrities who attended the 2022 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday night (May 2). Dressed in Versace, the Grammy Award-winning rapper rubbed shoulders with Megan Thee Stallion, Anderson .Paak and the slew of other artists who were in attendance. But afterward, Cardi found herself the target of social media’s wrath once again.
While hosting the Playboy’s Boom Boom After Party, Cardi told the crowd to have fun and made a sniffing gesture like she was doing cocaine, which some people evidently didn’t appreciate. Shortly after the clip started to go viral, Cardi B hopped on Instagram and explained how much she wishes she wasn’t famous.
“I really hate it,” she said. “Let me tell y’all something. If you ever wish to be rich and famous, don’t wish to be famous. Wish to be rich. Y’all seen me these last couple of days, you see I’ve been partying, going to the club with my fuckin’ friends, everything, blah blah blah. You’ve seen I’ve been in a good mood, but once I step out, once I start doing anything that has to do with going on social media, it’s always, always bad.
“I’m so sick of it. I hate it. Why me? Why me? I feel like god cursed me with fame. Dead ass. Dead fucking ass. God really cursed me with fame.”

Cardi B then reflected on her life pre-fame with rose-colored glasses, when her only job was to strip every night.
“Fame is just like … oh god … I hate it here,” she continued. “If I could click my heels three times and go back to fucking 2013 when I was just a regular bitch dancing and making money every single night, that’s where I wanna be. That’s when I was me.
“This whole go by the book stuff, gotta watch what you say, gotta watch what you do, this is not me, bro. This is ridiculous. I don’t understand how I always get in trouble. I feel like I’m in trouble. I’m a celebrity that always be in the principal’s office.”
Pop singer Billie Eilish, who was also at the Playboy party, got reeled into the drama after she was filmed saying something was “weird” while watching Cardi onstage. People quickly assumed she was talking about Cardi, but the two stars later shared a text message exchange clearing up the whole misunderstanding. As Eilish explained, she was simply commenting on how “weird” it was people were taking photos of Cardi’s derriere.
