For Kid Cudi, it was darkest before dawn. While some on the outside thought he had it all, the Ohio native checked into a rehab facility in 2016 at his lowest point in life.
Looking back on that gloomy time period in a recent interview with The New York Times Style Magazine, Cudder actually believed that rehab stint could’ve spelled the end of his music career.
“In 2016, I was in rehab. I was at the bottom. I didn’t see anything positive happening for me. I thought that maybe it was the end of my career. After so many years of feeling miserable, it’s hard to imagine anything brighter on the horizon.”
But since hitting rock bottom, Kid Cudi has a newfound perspective on life and is thriving on all fronts as an artist, actor and father to his only daughter.

“But the last five years have been truly game-changing for me,” he admitted. “Ever since I left rehab, it’s been nothing but me climbing up the mountain, getting higher and higher and achieving more, doing more, seeing more, learning more.”
2022 is proving to be another busy year for Cudi. He’s coming off starring in A24’s X movie and is slated to make a guest appearance on Pusha T’sIt’s Almost Dry album alongside Kanye West, but made sure to clarify that he’s still not on good terms with Yeezy.
