Fabolous has a catalog of mainstream records, but his freestyles hold the same recognition. Who could forget his Friday Night Freestyles series, where he blazed through classic tracks from Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, The LOX and more? Fab’s rapping ability seems to be rubbing off on his son, who’s already shown an ear for music.

Over the weekend, the Brooklyn rapper was out with his 6-year-old son, Jonas, when he decided to record the child busting out a quick freestyle. The wholesome moment found Jonas displaying a slick flow over the atmospheric beat, and earning a resounding “Ayeee!” from his father.

“Freestyles run in THE FAMILY,” Fab captioned in the video.

Jonas’ rhyming skills also won the approval of some of Fabolous’ rap peers including 2 Chainz, Fat Joe, Bun B, Sheek Louch and Maino.

“Das hard,” Tity Boi wrote in the Instagram comments section, while Bun added, “Runs in the family.” Joey Crack left several fire emojis.

Fabolous’ son displayed his prodigious musical talents earlier this month when he was filmed making his own beat with various equipment in the studio.

Fabolous saw his own rap skills become a hot topic in January when Top Dawg Entertainment rapper Reason picked him over André 3000 for a Verzuz matchup.

“In my opinion, yes, Fabolous is a better rapper,” Reason said during an interview with Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay. “I would love something like that [Verzuz]. But I feel like if you lined up Fabolous and André 3000, I got my money on Fab. That’s how I feel.”

He added, “[Fab] out-raps Wayne. If you can out-rap Wayne, you can out-rap André 3000. He’s out-rapped Wayne on records … I’m not saying it’s easy for Fab, but I think if Fab came in with the mindset of ‘I want the best verse,’ I think Fab can out-rap André 3000.”
