The King of New York debate will forever be a hot topic in the city so long as the Big Apple continues to produce talent regularly. Artists such as Fivio Foreign, Bobby Shmurda and even newcomer Kay Flock have made serious claims at the title, but there’s someone else looking to reinsert themselves into the conversation.
On Monday (March 14), The Bronx native Lil Tjay jumped on Twitter to throw his name back in the mix of the King of New York debate. According to Tjay, he’s making his claim by announcing he has new music on the way.
“King of NewYork coming backkkkkkk real soon I’m telling ya when I get back in rotation is scaryyyyyyy #inmyhead coming soon,” Lil Tjay wrote alongside a pair of emojis.
Lil Tjay’s last musical effort, Destined 2 Win, was released in April 2021 and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart, moving over 62,000 album-equivalent units. The album was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in July 2021 for officially selling over 500,000 copies.

If Tjay ends up dropping in the next few months, he’ll be taking on Fivio Foreign for control of the city. The Brooklyn rapper is releasing his highly-anticipated album B.I.B.L.E. in the coming weeks. Kanye West is supposedly serving as executive producer on the project and has already collaborated with Fivio on the alleged lead single “City of Gods” featuring Alicia Keys.
The “Big Drip” rapper had fans expecting the project to drop on March 25. However, a last-minute audible was called to perfect the product. According to Fivio, B.I.B.L.E. will be dropping on April 8.
“My album gon’ be pushed back. I pushed it back one more time,” he told fans on Instagram. “This is the last time though, for sure. It was March 25, now it’s April 8. It ain’t really a reason or anything, I just wanted to make that shit perfect. I want it to be the perfect album. That shit is going to be viral. Stay tuned, that shit gon’ be viral. April 8.”
