Madison, WI

A largely anti-climactic finish in the University of Michigan and University of Wisconsin basketball game on Sunday (February 20) became the talk of social media when an altercation broke out during the post-game handshake line between head coaches Juwan Howard and Greg Gard where Howard ended up striking a Wisconsin Badgers assistant.

After the fireworks following Michigan basketball’s 77-63 defeat in Madison, Plies took to Twitter to defend Juwan Howard’s actions once footage showed that Gard actually put his hand on Howard’s arm to seemingly explain why he took a timeout with 15 seconds left, which left the Michigan coach enraged.

“I Never Seen This Version,” Plies wrote after seeing an alternate angle of the confrontation. “Why Would The Wisconsin Coach Put His Hand On The Man!!! Regardless Of What Juwan May Have Said U Don’t Have The Right To Put Your Hands On Someone! Then Your Asst Coach Comes In Being A Aggressor! I Feel Totally Different About This Situation Now!!”

Plies continued to go back-and-forth with several fans on social media into Monday morning (February 21) who believed the Fab 5 member should be fired for his role in the incident. The Florida native believes Howard wasn’t the aggressor in the situation and it all could’ve been avoided had he not been touched by Gard.

“Dear Black Folks U Can Be Provoked, Touched, Yelled @, Approached Etc. If U React Your Response Will Be All They Wanna Talk About,” he concluded.

There is no doubt a heavy punishment is coming Juwan Howard’s way for his actions. Michigan’s Athletic Director already released a statement saying it would be working with the Big Ten Commissioner to determine the correct course of disciplinary action regarding the Michigan alum.
